Primarily this requires choosing a channel for your network. Attach your MASTER via USB and <a href=\"https:\/\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/docs\/configurator-app\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"2571\">run the Configurator<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-c3c703e1-6240-483a-9947-cce8ad70ddc9\">Network Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-14292b3f-9e42-40e1-9a8c-2d8bacf2d5cc\">On the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/docs\/main-window\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"2580\">Main Window<\/a><\/strong>, click <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Network_Settings.png?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\"> to invoke the <strong>Network Settings<\/strong> tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"block-87fc34cc-d327-456e-bc2f-412f186c4884\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Network-Settings-Window.jpg?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Network-Settings-Window.jpg\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Initial network settings on a new MASTER<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-2a66f2f9-255c-4490-9e6e-19839c3705d1\">A MASTER node is initially set to the configuration channel, 75, with its node ID locked to 00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-e6f29697-cf3f-4ff7-bfbc-161574ac2cd0\">Choosing a Channel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-594a2884-68cc-4bdf-910d-a902e4f81f6d\">LCOS Nodes communicate by radio over the 2.4 GHz band. This band is used by a wide variety of common commercial devices requiring short range communications, like wireless phones. It is also used in security systems and other non-commercial uses. Valid channels are 0 to 125.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-1e70f98e-ea40-4c0f-9faf-b8aceb6c7b8b\">The first thing you should do is click <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Radio_Scan.png?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Radio Scan\"> to determine how much activity there is in your local area. Traffic also varies by time of day, which makes sense as far as consumer product usage is concerned. So, It is a good idea to run several scans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-5b56e8a8-e29f-4d90-afe4-080bb7266e41\">In our area, we&#8217;ve never observed random traffic on a channel higher than 84, so I consider any channel higher fair game. It isn&#8217;t absolutely necessary that a channel be totally unused, but you want to avoid any channel that shows heavy, repeated usage. We use channel 101.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-1a53188b-6b60-499a-923e-a47598c10f3c\">Update the Master<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-1e74180c-6e35-4e83-9fc1-6d1aa41fa06a\">Click in the channel field and enter the channel you&#8217;ve chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-deba6eb9-163c-4ab7-abc7-445b525124f5\">Click <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Update.png?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"update button\"> to update the MASTER configuration. A confirmation message will appear in the <strong>Message Window<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"block-f8f68aa2-abe5-413c-90a8-eb99f49ea9d4\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/master-channel-change-ack.png?w=1200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is master-channel-change-ack.png\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-519d63e5-1eaa-4278-8c58-cd51e1319e8f\">The MASTER will automatically reboot and load the new configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people will want to install the MASTER on their control panel. On a small layout, the MASTER can be anywhere on or near the layout.  On a large layout, you have to plan the physical and logical structure of your layout. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/beaglebay.com\/duinogear\/docs-category\/layout-plan-guide\/\" data-type=\"doc_category\" data-id=\"125\">Layout Planning Guide<\/a> for more information.
