![]() Read Lisa Jensen's new review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest!
"Jensen combines action and romance in this gritty
and realistic portrait of life on the seas." "The Witch from the Sea is a thoroughly satisfying romantic tale, filled with swashbuckling pirates, plenty of atmosphere, and characters who come alive . . . . [It] succeeds where many have failed, spinning a highly entertaining, romantic, and quite believable tale of life on the high seas. It’s a solid debut from an author to watch." - The Romance Reader.com "Jensen's fast-paced debut novel stands out for
its satisfyingly well-drawn characters and the strong historical sense of
time and place she creates . . . . I highly recommend this book to any
lover of historical fiction." "Better than Diana Gabaldon--The Witch from the Sea is that rare creation, an historical romance with guts as well as glamour. Wild-spirited Tory is an irresistible character." - Joan Druett, author (Hen Frigates, She Captains, etc.) and nautical historian "[Y]ou will enjoy this exciting, well-written Caribbean tale of one girl's coming of age . . . . this is a romp of a book that guarantees a fun read." - Romantic Times "Rarely . . . do we find the adventure and romance in [the coming-of-age] genre that drives the pages of Lisa Jensen's fantastic tale . . . . Don't be surprised if your dreams and aspirations join the world of Tory Lightfoot during this exciting historical, romantic romp of old." - The Write Lifestyle "Here is a tale of America in its youth, of high adventure and low dealings, of pirate ships and Indian braves. But there’s more: The heroic Indian brave of this story is also a babe."--- Fearless Reviews Readers love The Witch from the Sea. Here is just a sample of the many glowing comments we've received: entertaining novel. You can tell her for me that I simply loved that romp through my native waters with Miss MacKenzie / Tory. I pulled the novel out yesterday, and over lunch, tried to describe it: A twentieth/twenty-first century lady writing in first person about fictional events of the nineteenth century. This is "swash-buckling" with a new twist (female heroine). The thing I find most interesting about the novel is the first-person narrative. It gives the story a sense of "immediacy." I felt as if I had gone along on the adventure. Jane Fonda, in her day, would have made a wonderful Tory, but both she and Julia Roberts are now too old for the part, I suspect. - Reader from St. Thomas, USVI how much of it was based in fact and the "Historical Note" at the end answered some of those questions. I'm glad Tory ended up with Jack instead of pretty > boy Matty. Am I correct in thinking this will be a series? I'd like to see Tory and Jack back on the sea again...with Hector and a few of the others from the book. This had a "Hornblower" feel to me and I can absolutely see this being produced as a film...for HBO, Showtime, whatever. - TV Titles Designer, Van Nuys, CA hope you quickly exceed the original print run and reach a wider audience. Also, that you are looking into selling it for a movie, TV or other wise. Can't wait to read the sequel. - Retired Archaeologist, Aptos, CA
